Penile Implant Surgery in India

Doctors Treatments

Penile Implant Surgery is the last option for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. After a patient has tried all medications like Viagra, Cialis and either the medicines are not working or they are having some sideeffects then Penile Prosthesis surgery is the option. Penile Implant Surgery is fast becoming popular in India as more and more Urologists move in the field of Andrology. Dr Raman Tanwar and Dr Gautam Banga are two of the leading Penile Implant Surgeons in India. A large number of patients come to India for getting either the 2 piece or the 3 piece inflatable implant. AMS and Coloplast are two of the companies which supply the inflatable penile implant in India. The cost of the 2 Piece Penile Implant Surgery is USD 10000 while that of the 3 Piece is USD 15000. The cost in India is almost half of what the patient would pay in other countries. The hospital stay is just 1-2 days and India stay is 4-5 days for this surgery. Patients who cannot afford the 2 Piece or the 3 Piece Penile implants opt for the Indian Malleable Implant which costs USD 3500 only and gives the same benefits as the Inflatable Implants. However the patient would have erection all the time with this implant and this causes some difficulty to the patient while he is on work.
Malleable Penile Implant is basically Semi Rigid Rods made of Silicon. These rods can be bent from the middle and when left alone returns to a straight shape. There are two silicon rods which are placed inside the Cavernous which gives you a permanent erection. The penis will stay at 90 degrees to your body once this implant surgery is done.
When you want to urinate you can bend the penis downwards and when you want to conceal it inside your clothes then you put it next to your abdomen. Those wearing tight clothes would display a bulge in their trousers. Sometimes the patients like to show off a bulge in their trousers and such patients prefer the malleable implant even if they can afford the costlier inflatable implants.
A 2-piece penile implant has two cylinders and a pump cum reservoir. When the pump is pressed, fluid is transferred from the pump into the cylinders. The 2 cylinders are placed in the Corpus Cavernosa and the pump is placed in the scrotum. You have to press the pump situated in the scrotum between the two testicles several times to get the maximum erection.
The erection would stay for as long as you want and once the need for erection is over you just have to bend the penis shaft to make it flaccid. When you bend the penis, the fluid in the cylinders goes back into the pump and the cylinders become empty thereby making the penis flaccid. It is not possible for anyone to find out that you have an implant inside your penis unless they see you pressing the pump in the scrotum. Most of the Asian patients are better candidates for 2 piece implant while the American, African and European patients can have 3 piece penile implants.
A 3-piece penile implant has two cylinders, a pump and a reservoir. When the pump is used, fluid is transferred between the reservoir and the cylinders. The 2 cylinders are placed in the Corpus Cavernosa, the pump is placed in the scrotum and the Saline Reservoir is placed inside the abdominal wall. You have to press the pump situated in the scrotum between the two testicles several times to get the maximum erection.
